Our creative movement class is the perfect introduction to classical ballet. Your dancer will learn basic ballet terminology and steps while exploring movement through music, developing their motor skills and coordination, channeling their energy and exercising their imagination!
Our Elementary level students will learn fundamental ballet technique while practicing the level of behavior and self-discipline required for studying classical ballet. Level placement is determined by age, physical strength and development.
Our Intermediate level students will continue to hone their basic technique while focusing more on artistry and building strength. Level placement is determined by ability to retain and apply corrections, drive, physical strength and ability. Intermediate students will begin pointe work after passing all of the requirements on our checklist.
Ordway Conservatory of Classical Ballet's Advanced students are part of a pre-professional trainee program designed for, but not limited to, students who wish to pursue a career as a professional dancer. The dancers are organized into a mock company of Apprentices, Understudies, and Company members. Students wishing to become professional dancers will learn what to expect in a real company, and students who do not wish to pursue careers as dancers can have a chance to experience a ballet company.
Progressive Ballet Technique
Artistic Director, Sara Ordway is a certified PBT instructor. Progressing Ballet Technique is an innovative program for students to understand the depth of training muscle memory in achieving their personal best in classical ballet. It is sometimes difficult for students to feel what muscles initiate the correct alignment in ballet their training. However, as the fit ball is continually mobile under the student’s’ body it gives the students a proprioception for their posture and weight placement whilst feeling each correct muscle group.
Our non-ballet classes are perfect for the serious dance student. Today's dancers need to be well rounded in many types of dance. Our classes are designed to not only get their bodies moving in different ways, but also supplement their ballet training.
